astradave Just done a hpi check on a car im supposed to be buying tomorrow and the hpi states its first registered on 17th may 2002 and has engine number 11045060 which falls well into the faulty chain/oil nozzle bracket. I thought and read on here that engines from march 2002 would be safe?any help? notsure.gif The car has done 39k which is now worrying me as so many chains seem to go at around the 40k mark, might pull the plug on the deal now notsure.gif 🙁
Baz do u know if the work has been done on the car if it has itl be fine with regular oil changes if its has full vx service history the work should of been done. are you buying the car private or garage if private try knocking the price down to cover the cost of the work needed if its not been done or even for peace of mind 😃
vocky it's engines built after march 2002, not cars registered after march 2002 the car may be registered in may 2002 but was probably built in 2001
Andy_Coupe If you look at the back of the engine to the left you will see a rusty coloured nut (you will have to remove the plastic engine cover) if its got cut outs on the edge of the nut then apparently the work needed has been done! Dont know if this is 100% true or not as ive never seen one without the cuts on!
