Anyone hit by the flooding then?

Weather hasn't been that bad in Sheffield over the last couple of days. Was expecting it to be quite rainy last night, but when I went out for a run, it had started to dry up.

It's pretty windy tonight though, so going to be a tough run into the wind.

no flooding round our area ,even though im less than 1/4 mile from the river .but last year when there was that tidal surge and flooding it was just trickling over the banks .not bad considering the last time our village got hit by the floods was in the 50's

"Worst Floods since records began".....so it was worse previously!

Always gets me how it's been worse than this previously, but it's all our fault for burning fossil fuels.

Fine here also, but the tears from us geordie fans my cause local flooding, following our defeat to maccums (Sunderland FC). Apart from that its been nice sunny day here.

Yeah, they do seem to be getting hit quite hard. I saw on the news that they have closed a lot of the coastal path in Cornwall due to subsidence and half the cliff face was coming away.

Bloody hell! Looks like it works though. Better than just piling some sandbags up and hoping for the best.

Just been out for a 10KM run. Was bloody wet and windy out there. Got a right chap on the front of my thighs :cautious:

@[deleted] lol at pic #39 he got wet feet 🙂

thought that might of happed when i went thru the local puddle looked massive at 1st

but road side was minimal

My brother-in-law had to abandon his car in the floods, and he ended up writing it off when he recovered it.

many years ago I had a 1.6 mk2 diesel fiesta (before I saw the light), drove through 1' deep flood ok next about 8" and instant stop!
air intake pipe got knocked off in first, sucked up water like a dehydrated elephant in the second!
blown head gasket and 2 banana shaped rods!
engine had covered 225k by then but only needed reshell, new rings, rods, and gaskets. last known mileage was 400k!
hope this weather clears up soon, getting wet everyday at work isn't good 🙁

Never seen flood defence like that before, really looks like it works though.
