Update....
Bonnet catch sorted! Always handy to have a long bit of studding to poke with lol! Cable adjusted and re attached!! Sorted!!! :-)
Having re checked the cooing system to ensure it's got no air locks I ran her up again! Then I probed various water pipes with my infared digital temp reader! ( mainly used for air con ) and realised the temp of the various pipes was not getting hot enough to trigger temp guage! Having bonnet open only cooled the engine even more! Well it is bloody cold! So closed the bonnet sat in the car increased the revs to 3000 for a short time and bingo up she came! Reached 85! Over the weekend I'll do a test drive to make sure all is ok!
So in short because it was bloody cold it took longer to warm up!!! Still got a spare stat and temp switch :-) lol
