Caching and Search

This morning, I created a new server which I'm using for my test bed.

As part of this, I've now clustered Elasticsearch and Memcache across both servers. This is especially useful now we do a lot of caching via the backend caching mechanism, which stores full pages as HTML to guests.

Since doing this, I've noticed an improvement in overall speed, and the load on both boxes is nice and low.

Site never been laggy to me bud, also been nice and quick.

I think it's due to me constantly wanting <1 second full page loads. As it stands now, I've got it down to around 800ms with the adverts removed (shown to everyone apart from admin / mods / premium members).

I've disabled it again, as it's causing quite a load on the server generating that query on each page load. I'm looking at what I can do to reduce the impact having that enabled has on the site.

OK I think I've sorted this. I had it set to keep unread posts for 6 months in the database, when the default value should be 30 days. I've set this back now, so it should be a quicker query.

I know, it's still causing slow page loads with it enabled

One thing I have noticed is typing on my mobile is really laggy I can type a sentence before it really starts typing if that makes sense. Probably iPhone again lol

I have noticed the same. I think it's the fact it's loading a webfont into the editor

Dump down the website for iPhones to work correctly?? :whistle:

Apart from that it's always been the quickest site to load etc so I'm not complaining but it's bloody annoying :-)

I've spent the last hour trying to figure why it's slow now on the iPhone system, but haven't managed to work it out yet.

I think you are right. I noticed it on my iPad as well.

I've been testing it on my development site using the same theme, and it's doing it on there. If I switch back to the old theme, it doesn't do it. I've also got another forum running the same theme framework, which it's not doing it on either :confused:

I've opened a support ticket with the theme developer to see if he can have a quick look and suggest something?

EDIT: Actually, can you check on your phone. When did Chrome update? Mine updated itself yesterday......the same time that I updated this theme!

Seems fine on iPad, had issues with Tab3 but that was with all pages turned out it didn't like Chrome!
