Just thought as a caring, sharing individual, I thought that I'd go and get a replacement key fob and stop annoying the neighbours with my alarm. Sound person I hear you say, shove it I say the monsters at Skurrays want to charge me £73.86 and as I don't have my pass card that's a further £23.00. I thought that energy companies were bad enough but it is nice to see that thievery is alive and well across industry:mad:

I've been quoted £95 from my local vaux dealer when I need my key replaced. So least they's consistency to the thieving gits lol

I went the cheaper way.

I already had the pass card, but I brought a mk4 remote off ebay (£10) and a new ID40 chip(£2.50 for 2), then went outside with opcom and coded it in myself.

Then I brought 2 MK5 conversion fobs (£5 each) and another 2 MK4 fobs (£15), took the internals out and did myself a MK5 key conversion.

PowR, If brains was dynamite I wouldn't have enough to blow my hat off, how simple is this task and could I do this as I would like to have a stab at it. At least it'll give Evo a laugh. Regards Rob

You can deactivate the internal sensors before you get out the car, would that help or does it go off as soon as you open the door?

it still goes off
its activated from the door switchs still
only way to keep it quite is unplug the siren

Firstly, what car is this for? Is a Astra G/MK4?

To do this you will need your pass card with your ecu password.

Hi PowR, Firstly the car is a vectra B on a '51 plate 150SRI. and I'm near Andover Hampshire. I don't have the pass card as this was missing when I purchased the vehicle mate.

Evo, yell me where the siren is and I'll use me bayonet on it. I had a look for it near the well arch but it must be' cammed up' as something else because I couldn't find it. Regards Rob

passenger side wheel arch at the rear behind the indicator lamp
its on a metal plate you have the remove the metal plate to get it unplugged 🙂

I did the key mod recently however my chip had been deactivated no chip in key at all alarm etc all work fine :-) a replacement key for me is £6 for the blade to be cut and it cost me £7 for the mk5 key

What ever way you want to go about it you will need the pass card, its worth having in future cases anyway...

You would need opcom, opcom cable, ID40 chip and keys to be programmed.

Gentlemen, I've followed the instructions given here to locate the power sounder. Iundone the nearside mudguard and shone a light, The only things that I can see are the washer tank and side light mount. Are there any other clues? Regards Rob

its the other side of the wheel arch under the wing where the door meets it

Eureka, It was cunningly concealed at the top rear of wheel well. Alright, Alright hidden in plain sight....lol

Could be worse, it's ~ £150 for a new key for the Audi! I'm glad they've given me free key insurance just incase

Luckily got a friend who's a dab hand with a soldering iron...Both keys working again, now how do I fit the siren back?
