Zxr33 Afternoon guys! I said I would up date you so here it is! Today at 11 out again I went with my tools to try and solve the mystery of why the car had no compression and failed to start! After top end rebuild new chains ect and twice checking the timing! So a little disheartened out I went! After 30 mins all timing was exposed! ... Well once you've done it a couple of times you fly through it!!! :-) Anyway! After setting the timing and removing exhaust sprocket I noticed there is only one locater on the back of the sprocket! Which means it's easy to get the timing wrong if you don't pay attention like I did! Only having done the 22se's before not the yh! I guess I just went about it the wrong way! ! ... So one hour later the cars ready to be fired up! Spun it over! Car sounded like it should! "Good compression" So I did my final checks and put the last bits on and went to fire her up! So I sat there with a big grin on my face as I turned the key! It failed to start!!!!! Ffs....... Under the bonnet I went again...... Whoops I forgot to plug the coil packs in!!! doohhh! So back I went with fingers crossed I turned the key!!! Bloody thing only fired up on the button!!!!! With a big smile I turned it off to go make a well deserved coffee! So although I'm no mechanic by trade I like doing these projects! Having done quiet a few 22se heads and chains this is my first yh.... Although process and routines are more or less the same mistakes can happen! But with time and patients it came good! After all it's only nuts and bolts!!!! But I have learnt from my mistakes and the car runs like a dream! So bring on the next one..... Thanks guys
evocarlos glad to of been a help 🙂 just remember my pictures from the other thread before you take it all apart 1, put the crank at tdc 2, then look at the cam lobe locations 🙂
Zxr33 Thanks evo! If I'm honest I didn't check cam lobs :-( not sure why as I've always checked them in the past!
