made a trip over to see @[deleted] about his cam chains today
after he pm's me to say his car was a none runner and had been off the road for awhile
i asked him to send me a picture of the main chain and to check the rockers were still in a fixed position
he had been advised by a garage that the chain was broken and the repair bill would be £2000
armed with my tool kit and the compression test i went round to fit new chains
the main chain was pretty passed it
the exhaust cam was about 2-3 teeth out and there was some concern about maybe bent valves
i fitted new chains refitted the oil pump cover put 5l of oil in then ran a compression test
210psi in 3 cylinders and 150psi in #4 (dry) the wet test showed 210psi on all 4 cylinders so the valves were all good
and the engine had been stood for a few months with the plugs out so all the oil had drained out from the moving parts
after refitting the rest of the parts and priming the oil system
the car ran great no funny noises and purred like a kitten it was left running on its own for 25mins to get it up to temp
really good out come with this one and another satisfied customer 🙂
