Pick up lag?

I removed my pre-cat a while ago now! (on a new cat!) unfortunatley i havent got round to fitting it yet! but does the removal of the pre-cat get rid of the dreaded acceleration lag that can affect the 2.2? mine ocurrs mainly in second, around 2000/3000 revs notsure.gif but then picks up quite rapid 😃
(mines a 150 veccy)

Still got a bit of lag on mine,but nowhere near like it used to be..

The lag that everyone experiences is due to the characteristics of the "16v" engine, you can limit this by removing the pre cat etc, but it will never go completely.

the lag is caused by the cast exhaust manifold and poor downpipe design

fitting a 4-2-1 tubular manifold gets rid of it

I imported one from the usa in early 2005, can't recommend one enough, gives as much performance increase as the precat removal 😃

they are very cheap in the usa @£100, made by weaponR for chevrolet cavalier

mine cost £185 delivered :shock:

BUT the lower section has to be rebuilt completely to fit any european z22se, as in the usa the exhaust goes behind the steering rack - rather than between the engine and rack :shock:

I fitted the manifold myself, took me a few hours of welding also :shock:

I was on the phone to Courtenays this moring about these manifolds and they advised that Its okay to add one but it could shift the power and would probably need remapping??

I'm sure our main man vocky can shed some light on this??

hi, ive got the 4into1 dbilas manifold and it is true the car seemed to pull better from lower revs.havent had it re mapped since fitting it and judging by the results on sat seems ok
