b207r hybrid questions

Ok so before I fit the z22 in my Zaf I want to know what bits are best to use off the b207r I have bought to nick bits off, I have been reading Evo's project and a few others and trying to work out the best route but the more I read the more confused I become lol.

My endgame plan is to either Supercharger or Turbo it (swingine more towards SC) so with this in mind what the best possible engine I could build using the 2 I have??? My plan was always to strip and rebuild the Z22se so it was like a 0miles engine when it goes in, this is not a rush build and it will more than likely take me about a year to get it into the car and up and running ready to go on the road.

what I need to know is will the 207 pistons etc etc fit into the 22 (read somewhere that they might but there is an issue with the trigger wheel)?? or would it be better to use the 207 block with 22 crank, rods and pistons???

what need to be done to the head to get the 207 head to fit the 22 block???

I have learnt that the 22 cams are better but need modding to fit the 207 head, where is the guild for this???

also what needs to be done to make the stronger f40 6sp to fit the 22 block???

I know it seems like a lot but this aint exactly a bolt for bolt conversion lol.

you can use either block, the saab has under-piston oil jets and oil cooler so is considered the better block. Just use the matching crank/rods and pistons - so either 2.0 or 2.2.
The 2.0 saab requires an external trigger wheel to retain the z22se ecu which uses a 5+2 trigger wheel. For a standalone the 60-2 saab trigger wheel is probably better.

The head needs modifying but is mentioned in a few threads, just search for 'saab head'.

The F40 gearbox might need different mounts, but not many have used it. Most use the lighter M32 gearbox.

So I could use the 207 block with 22 crank rods and pistons with the 207 head and 22 cams, I am only thinking of using the f40 box as I have it lol if its upto the job don't see the point in wasting money on another box lol

no
z22se = 6 bolt
b207 = 8 bolt

i hear the c20xe flywheel is a good match up to a f23 box on the b207 crank
not sure what you would use for the f40 to z22se crank

this would allow me to have the better cooling oil sprayers its the better block right???

now to solve the Flywheel issue lol as I want to use the Saab f40 6sp lol

yes the under piston oil jets are a nice addition to a high bhp engine

saab crank can use the c20let F23 flywheel (y)

which is stronger, saab crank, rods and pistons or Z22 items??? 2.2 SC has a nicer ring than 2.0 SC lol

ok so I am going with the Z22se block as the basis, this is due to the fact I am having to fit a running engine before xmas, so everything going to plan I will be having the engine fitted next week, the first of many questions I have is, is there a guild on here on how to do the Balance Shaft Delete???? I tried looking and using the search but could only find threads where people are asking for advice on different aspects of doing it, I want a step by step guild if there is one.

its the oil cooler. cooled by engines water cooling system. as the B207R has under piston oil jets which help cool the pistons it will help keep the engine cool. very usefull if your going to be tuning the engine. (y)

cheers mate, will be watching your ITB build even closer now, how easy would you say 200bhp is to get on ITB's???

ive been told differing things about this, some say its quite simple where as others says not. remove balancer shafts, bigger cams, new valve springs, port head, tubular exhaust manifold, raise comp ratio (either new pistons/rods or skim head but then you are restricted to amount of lift on cams), sc is the cheapest way to get over 200bhp or to fit a B207R engine complete with turbo ect. just management to sort then.

Right so I have been pondering again and is the Saab b207 inlet better than the Z22 one??? would I gain anything from fitting the b207 inlet?????
