OK so I haven't actually done much on this for a while as haven't had the time to get it off the road lol, well on Fri last week I went to go out in the bus and the engine just didn't feel right on start up, I pottled through my estate to get it warmed up like I always do and then when I got it to the main road it was nice and warm as usual and gave it (well went to give it) a boot full into the 60 zone and nothing, accelerated slower than my old 1.1 punto but made a stack of induction noise. limped it on and after about 10miles of praying it would clear, I then decided to dip the clutch and rev it and see what it was like up the rev range, got to 5k and blurrrrrrrrrrrrr, dropped to 2k even though foot was flat to the floor, lifted foot off the throttle and it was idling at 2krpm, limped it off the road and turned it off, started it up again and back to the normal 650rpm idle but still flat on rev'ving up and if I tried to rev it over 5k it went into 2k mode, turned it off and started it again and limped it home, drives ok as long as I keep the revs below 4.5k but massively down on power, decided, with the advice of a couple of mechanics it was timing was out, so booked it in yesterday for today to get the timing done, well today came and they pulled it apart to do the timing to find my cams were damaged so I am now having them fit b207r cams as well so fingers crossed tomorrow they will give me back a running 2.2 Zaf lol.
while I am on, you guys in the know, can any of you maybe suggest something else it could maybe be just incase this doesn't solve the issues.
Also if this does work my plans will be changing again. because it will be down on power thanks to the turbo cams I think I will get a stock spec turbo off a Saab and get it running a low boost set-up on the Z22se engine running approx 200bhp, this will allow me to get the basics like turbo manifold and boost piping and intercooler set-up etc etc set-up ready for the 207 based 2.2, it will also give me more time to sort little issues that may come up before the big power starts to come in lol. I will in the mean time get an engine stand and start building the b207/22se 2.2 engine with 300bhp in mind, this in mind I think I will save for forged pistons and steel rods etc etc.
