im wanting to take the astra off the road to work on getting as much bhp i can. im just wondering what you guys have done to the 2.2 engine and get advice on the best way to do it. I was goin to sell it and get a zaf gsi but i love my astra and i know i would regret it if i did sell. so any advice would be a great help thanks guys.🙂

I will be selling my engine once ive built the new one. not going to be until the summer though.

If you want BHP S\C is the route big gains with N/A equals deep pockets.

Would say that going the SC route is going to be the best option for power on the 2.2 if you are wanting to keep the 2.2 engine in there.

Its expensive but im also thinking of doing this.

off the shelf saab parts 🙂 you could quite easlly get 200+ hp with the saab bits but you would need it to be mapped right or have an external fuel controller

turbo £300ish manifold £30 home made downpipe to fit £60? intercooler (z20let) pipe work and fittings £100 remap £250-300 £15 for a big hammer theres not really any reason it would be unreliable 🙂

superchargers alot more money but better gains and easier to fit and tune apart from me running on the conrod limit i would say its reliable now 4 months in 🙂

NOS £800-900 for a kit its good for 100hp extra but will run out after 300 yards 🙂

Most of us haven't got your skills carl to do what you've done and seeing what CS charge, I could get a Vectra VXR :confused: I couldn't justify spending that much on the coupe, even if I tried my best to hide credit and bank statements lol

if you realy want a turbo then swap to a saab lump, complete engines start at £500. z20net pipe work from astra or Vectra. to turbo a z22se and keep it reliable with decent gains isn't that cheep. ive priced it up for the corsa but the cost and lack of space made me go down original idea of throttle bodies again. 🙂

Throttle bodies n vocky spec sounds so good n old school. I think Im gonna buy a run a round n take coupe to its limits.

Some times it's easier just to replace the thing.

Raced a clio sport today as he overtook me we were side by side all the wayfrom there, so either he's lost power or im running 180bhp
