3 door cars and babies!

I've been looking over the last couple of weeks at the possibility of a new car, and getting rid of the VXR.

How have people found they managed with a 3 door and a baby?

I've been looking at something quite a bit larger (Ford Kuga or Nissan Juke), and I can get a top of the range Juke 4x4, 1.6T with all the extras for a LOT less a month than I am paying now.

However, I LOVE the VXR, and for me to get rid of it, it's going to need to be for something pretty special. I've also got less than 12 months and I'll have paid it off and actually own it.

What are your thoughts??

Not a juke!! One of the ugliest cars on the road. My brother got a qashqai when he had his first kid and now swears by them. Its a 2ltr diesel. He had a bmw 330ci and it was a nightmare getting the baby in and out of the back. Not fancy vaux zaf?

I actually really like the look of the Juke.

The one we spec'd up was the top of the range one, with every option included. 0-60 in 8 seconds from the 1.6T petrol which is pretty good for a car that size.

I had my 3 door Astra. when my kayne was born. I found trying to get him in and out of the seat was difficult. I had to climb in the back carrying him which was a pain but I am 6 foot 4 lol. I ended up taking the seat out every time. If i didnt write it off i would have kept the car. the baby will grow into a proper seat before you know it. lol

That is what is currently making me think about keeping the VXR. She'll outgrow the seat soon enough, and be in a forward facing one.

yeah kayne ended up in a forward facing seat by six or seven months. he outgrew the baby seat really fast. my main problem was and still is boot space on the mk4. once the buggy was in nothing ekse got in lol.

We've already had to get a really small pram to fit in Amy's Fiat 500, which has fuck all boot space.

i suppose i could have bought a smaller pram. But the missus had the final say lol.

haha, lucky for us the pram Amy wanted was the only one that fits in her car.....just means it's twice the price of all the other prams!

Im struggling with the baby and the coupe. I went to VX to check out a new insignia but its a bit pricey.

you have to remember they don't stay babies for very long, within 18 months they will want to climb in and out of the car themselves, they get very independent very quickly.

The chap down the road from me kept his vxr and now their child happily climbs in 🙂

I had a 3 door focus many moons ago with a little bambino and tbh I found it easier to put her seat in the car then trying to do it from the side

As you know Matt I have kept the Astra and it not bad i would say it gets worse the older they get with the weight and bending, with two the Astra hasn't got enough space and the trending and squeezing past takes the toll on the interior.

I did my back in twice with the Clio.

I like the Juke 🙂

Plus you will find its like a traveling circus if you stay overnight!

But we have still have a 3 door so it is possible and do-able!

I personally would keep the VXR, then when its paid off maybe trade the 500 in for the Juke if you like it that much.
