zz22yh cam chain too slack?

Hi there, this is my first post, I have not long purchased a 2.2 direct elite auto vec c. It suffers from poor acceleration below 3k rpm, after changing plugs coil pack and maf I decided to check timing chain. this is what I found I assume this is way too slack.

my advice would be to not start the car again until the chains have been replaced, that is just about to slip and kill your engine :eek: :eek:

Stone the crows, that is bad :eek: As Vocky said DONT start it until a new chain kit is on

Thanks for replies 🙂 its going nowhere and parts are on way after chains are replaced will power be back or is there possibly still another fault thanks again 🙂 also should vauxhall have picked up on this during a service less than a week ago?

The only other problem you might have is with how slack that is some of the valves might have touched the piston but you might be lucky. If you are lucky then yeah it should have all the power back.

As for Vx, I can't see how they could have missed it but I suppose it depends on what service was done to it

Hopefully I'll get lucky, engine was running fine above 3000 rpm so hopefully there will be no valve damage and I've caught it in time. I was really surprised how slack the chain was as the car wasn't particularly noisy running or on start up.

the engine should return to normal after the chains have been replaced, you should replace both chain kits

Got two timing and balancing one hopefully no damage to valves however its still running so fingers crossed

Well isnt running now but was before we noticed it 🙂
