snowy My Astra coupe has 215/40-R17 tyres fitted. They are cheap tyres fitted by the previous owner. The road noise was bad when we got the car but since there was good tread and they seam to handle ok we left them on. However the road noise is slowly getting worse. Does anyone have a recommendation of a good tyre for this car? I have found these http://www.blackcircles.com/catalogue/hankook/ventus-v12-evo/215/40/R17/Y/87/f?returnurl=%2forder%2ftyres%3f&tyre=14317962 Are they any good? Thanks
guy_27 If you can budget a bit more look at michelin pilot sport 3's they are an extremely quite tyre, unbelievable handling in the dry and just as good in the wet. without question the best tyre I've driven on to date. I've moved a few friends here to them as well and they rate them just as highly as I do. I've driven on a lot of tyres over the years and highly recommend the ps3's only thing is i don't think they come in a 40 profile but you can fit a 45 profile unless you're running silly offset or heavily lowered.
snowy The wheels are the standard ones fitted by Vauxhall. Money isn't an issue but does anyone know if the '45' profile tyres will fit ok? Thanks
snowy So I take it you mean either; http://www.blackcircles.com/catalogue/michelin/pilot-sport-3/215/45/R17/W/91/f?returnurl=%2forder%2ftyres%3f%26width%3d215%26profile%3d45%26rim%3d17%26speed%3dY&tyre=32211110 or http://www.blackcircles.com/catalogue/avon/zz3/215/45/R17/Y/87/f?returnurl=%2forder%2ftyres%3f%26width%3d215%26profile%3d45%26rim%3d17%26speed%3dY%26minpricerange%3d0%26maxpricerange%3d0%26displayall%3d999&tyre=16141994 Thanks
PowR_Remap I'm using Falken ZE914's 215/40/17 88 on black circles, great grip in dry, in the wet they are good too and good on fuel and noise!
Sjdickso Like Mike said 45 profile will help, I have 45 on my Astra with 17's. Hankook V12 are ok on par with ZZ3 as well.
snowy Thanks for the advice. I will have to weigh up what to get. But if money were no object what would you all pick? Thanks
