Hi all,
Sorry to post about dirty diesel but no one knows what's wrong with my zaf B and you guys are a pretty smart bunch 🙂
It was supposed to do a dpf regen but didn't go on a long enough drive. Took it out for a long drive and engine started to runaway. Only a little when going up a hill; I let off the throttle and it kept on accellerating from 3500 rpm to 4500. I braked and it was steady again. Comin down the hill it did the same again and hit limiter 1 time so I pulled over and got towed home. Stripped it down and there was oil in intercooler, pipes, even airbox pipe. Cleaned it all and ran it in the drive. Oil was then in the exhaust side of turbo but none on the inlet side so diagnosed as turbo seal failure. Bought new turbo from turbo technics and fitted it, kik issue sorted. Nice and clean system now. However...it ran fine on the drive but smelled strongly of diesel. Turned it off to check everything and saw that there were two loose connections, the downpipe to cat connection wasn't tight enough (as I didn't want to sheer any studs) and oil feed to turbo was seeping (as didn't want to crack the new turbo). Nipped them up and all nice and sealed. Turned over again but now won't fire up. Will crank over on the starter motor but won't fire. Runs on easy start until you stop spraying, then it cuts out again. Surely must be a fuel issue?! But fuel is getting through the injector supply lines as I checked them. So.confused!
After a turbo change is there anything which could prevent the engine electronics from allowing the car to run?
Needs a compression test and tech 2 I think but the compression testers done fit (apparently it's a special adaptor for the 9mm socket glow plug hole) and I don't have tech 2. VX want 100 quid per hour!
Clutching at straws now. Bad enough that I've had to buy another car (vectra c 2.2) while I work out what's wrong with this one. 2007 zafira sri cdti 150.
Cheers all.
Rick.
