would a vauxhall dealers diagnostic go into more detail?

the problem ive got is fault code 0300 multiple engine misfire which can be numerous things so would a Vauxhall diagnostic go into more detail on the fault and tell me exactly where the problem is? ive had enough of looking at things and thinking it must be this or that only to find that it still wont run right

not bad ideas there, only reason I want a plug in is because I think the balance chain could be out but im fed up of stripping it down and setting it up thinking that ive set it up right. the marks on the chain are realy not clear so its not obvious that's its set it perfectly and I don't have a picture of exactly where the marks are meant to be set up perfectly, don't suppose you have any pics?

i fit chains in my spare time 🙂 but plugging in won't tell if the shafts are out of alignment there mechanical not electrical
if the balancer chain was set up wrong there would be engine vibration felt of some sort i would guess i dont have balancer shafts so cant say :confused:

balancer shaft sprockets have arrows showing the locations of the links you may need to wipe them with petrol on a rag to see them

id say mine was right, I thought I found the marks in the chain and spun it to line with the arrows, the arrows didn't line up as perfect as I thought ie inlet pointing directly up and exhaust directly down but the marks lined up. it starts up fine, ticks over at bang on 1000rpm then drops to 800ish then its up and down and after a min the light starts flashing, give it some revs and it seems fine but something aint right. ive realy had enough of it and cant be doing with stripping it down again

it is easier to set up the chains with it all off and the marks visible
do you know anyone with opcom local ? get them to plug it in and see what codes are showing
just guessing the problem wont help you could end up changing everything just to find out a vacuum tube is split

when did the p0300 start ?

after I built it back up from doing the tensioner on the chain which is why I presumed it was me that must have lined it up wrong but ive stripped it down about 3 times and done it again to make sure it was right. either I keep setting it up wrong every time or its something else. that's why I was thinking of taking it to Vauxhall to see if it would give me more details

did you unplug the ecu ?

no havnt unplugged that, just kept clearing the fault code with a code reader, should I unplug it and leave it for a bit?
