Thought some of you on here might be interested in this, no Z22SE content though 'cause it was fucked!
I've not done one of these for a wee while now, so here goes....
Last week the other half and I decided we'd go on a bit of an adventure seeing as we both had a bit time off, so with a few ideas in mind I booked us on a boat and we headed down saarf, and stopped at a Travelodge somewhere near Canterbury. Next morning was quite an early start and we soon arrived at the ferry terminal at Dover....

Arriving in Calais...

The first bright idea I had was to avoid toll roads, which to head down towards the Alps involved driving through Belguim and Luxembourg along possibly the most monotomous motorways possible. Eventually though, the roads started to get a bit more exciting (blame any poor quality pictures on the missus!)....

I've got to say the boring part was worth it for a hoon through the Alps, the roads were dead and all really good quality. As we got closer to our first overnight stop in Gex, near the Swiss border, we were met with this sight as we got to the top of the pass, Mont Blanc...

The road down the other side was proper Alpine style with tonnes of hairpins and a great view of Lake Geneva...

We stayed at a superb campsite, where the owner made us quite possibly the best half chicken I've ever tasted!
The next day our destination was Nimes, with me thinking it'd be all romantic which would be ideal for our 1st year anniversary that day. Having learnt the previous day that avoiding the tolls takes ages, we decided to use them. They may be quite expensive but they really do work!

Nimes turned out to be a major disappointment, the hotel was brilliant (a Novotel) but that was about it.
The next leg was down to a cheap half board holiday hotel in Calella on the Costa Brava, we took the tolls for a bit but I soon decided I wanted to drive along the Med, which I'm sure the photos will confirm was a good idea!

We stayed in Calella for 4 nights, we went to the Circuit de Catalunya hoping that I could do a driving experience only to discover they changed the dates, luckily I was able to console myself with lots of cheap beer! The next day was spent in Barcelona which was brilliant...

The following day was spent chilling, though I did nip along to the beach for a wee photo...

Before long it was time to head back north, where we stayed at a campsite in Limoges and bought the biggest amount of KFC in bucket I've ever seen :lmao: (no photos though, was busying munching!)...

From there it was just a dash along the toll roads to catch the ferry and a blast back home!
Ubu's little present...

We covered 2967 miles all in, and apart from the FPR vacuum pipe being awol (from previous escapades!) the car never missed a beat!
