Fitting Piper Manifold?

Two questions, can you just use standard gaskets, and can i just leave the heat shield off?

manifold to head will be the same not sure on the down pipe flange
you dont really need the heat sheild but watch out for discoloring of parts around that area over time

it's quite straight forward, just unbolt the original and fit the Piper 🙂

basically remove heat shield
then down pipe
then manifold
lift it out the top 🙂

wouldn't risk it getting into cat

soak the studs with wd40 etc for a good 10 mins before you start and buy some spare in case the whole stud removes from the head

Ok one more problem, the bolts on the pipe that connect to the cat are too small and they have be welded on by the guy i bought it off, I think cuz he had a vx220 maybe the cat connection is slimmer or something? Any ideas on how to get these bolts off?
