coupe front end knock

Hi guys hoping someone can help. Over the past few month an annoying knock/clunk has developed from the rightt front end. It sounds like its coming from roughly where my right knee is. I know the drop links and ball joints are fine as had them done begining of the year. It mainly happens when pulling away or slowing down and also over bumpy roads however not all the time. I've also took the door card off to see if it was something loose behind the door. And also the brake pads if they were loose in the caliper all to no avail. Hopefully someone else will have had the same or similar problem. Cheers.

Top mounts on the struts. Sounds exactly like what I had on the VXR

Thanks Matt. i was starting to sway toward the top mount myself but wanted to hear what other peoples thoughts would be. my friend whos a mechanic had a look today in the car park and said he couldnt find any play in the ball joints or wishbone bushes and also mentioned the top mount but with the car being on an emergency jack didnt want to push and pull too much! i want to get the springs and dampers changed soon anyway so will prob have to put up with it a bit longer haha. hows hunting for the knock on your vxr going?

I can't figure where it's coming from. I've been over everything I can see and reach, and nothing is loose or knocking. The only remaining thing in the front anti-roll bar bushes, but from my limited access to them, I can't get them to knock. It's frustrating as it only does it at low speed, and not all the time.

TBH, for driving it 10 minutes to work and back, I think I'm going to live with it for a while until I can be arsed with the car again, as I'm a bit fed up with it now 🙁

Yep, I just need to see if I can get something back from Mtec for the extra set of pads I've had to buy to sort it.

Hopefully youll be refunded for the mintex pads or maybe some sort of credit off a future order. They seem to be a pretty big company so doubt they would want any bad press. Im going to be buying some discs and pads soon too off mtech. Not sure if to just get the discs now tho and get oe pads just incase i get the same problem as you.

I'm going to ask for another set of ferrodo from them, and I can look to take those back to VX for a refund....or keep them until I want to replace them again.

Thats worth a try. with you only doing 10miles a day it will be quite a while before you have to replace the pads again haha

I know, will probably out last the car. They were the original discs and pads I removed,and it's a 2006 model.
