Hi..thanks for reply.....cool pics....not a Haynes manual job then for someone with very little engine work experience....
can I ask did it cost a fortune in the end? I love the car but maybe its worth just trying to find an engine. or maybe just time to say goodbye and find something else?
cheers
hey it was not my car but one that was coming to me for the chains to be replaced it snapped 17 mile from my house
the head gasket and bolts were £80 from a local motor factors
i managed to buy a used knackered head from a scrap yard that had enuff good valves and valve guides to replace the bent ones in the original head £25
had to buy some tools valve compressor tool and punch's to replace the guides £60
new chains and oil + filter were fitted on rebuild
you can get a head repaired for £250 ish there on ebay
defo not a haynes job lol i have done work on heads before so knew what to expect
maybe look at a complete engine then get the chains done?
its going to cost money which ever route you take :S its the only down side
