How do you wash a z22se engine ?

How do you wash this engine ? I have a astra g coupe want to wash the engine . What do i need to take care , what do i need to cover and protect from water ? Any tips would be welcome .

All I do is keep the jet away from the air intake and throttle body but I alway wave the engine warm and running

engine running dont spray coil pack or black braid on the egr pipe to inlet the rest is fine 7years practice lol

So engine runing + dont spray top of engine + dont spray electrical parts right of engine + dont spray inlet ? Thats kind not easy O.o How to wash around coil pack? Need lot of manual washing with a tooth brush and a rug it seems O.o ?

ita not hard at all just avoid these 2 areas
and you only really need to avoid the area in the white circle as the brading over the egr pipe goes white the jet washed it tears it up as you can see

Thank you , picture explaining better / What if i remove the engine cover ? Same procedure . And btw if engine is runing i should i avoid watering the air filter becous i have a cone one not the oem . Also the xenon "boxes" dont know the name for tham , can i spray that and cables of it ?

if you have the cover off the engine aviod the hole spark plug area the water can get into the wells with the cover off
best to aviod you cone filter to
the ballasts for the hid kit all depend on the type if the the little slim type ballasts then no
if there the big ones there fine the cheap slim ones are not watertight

What about degreaser? Is it ok for that to go anywhere?

I'd just spray the degreaser on the block itself, and try and avoid the other areas.

Just depends on what type of degreaser. Standard TFR just lob it all over, but if it's strong caustic stuff, it could react with plastics.

I just used some spray on degreaser they have at my dads work (not sure of name), then blasted the whole engine and underneath with a steam cleaner

didnt even bother leaving the engine running, it was still hot after a run though

car fired back up fine

but suppose using a jet wash is different
