I have a 50,000 mile, 2004 Zafira with the z22se engine. Back in 2009 I had the cam chain replaced by a Benny in Wolverhampton and this seemed to work nicely. However, following an oil change, the motor has developed a thrashy, rattling noise from the cam chain area, perhaps because changing the oil has kicked up debris from the sump that blocked the oil jet to the chain - I can't think of any other reason.
Anyhow, my question is, how can I tell if it's the cam chain that needs replacing again (only done about 12k) or the balancer chain that's at fault ?
Also, is there anyone who can do the work in the Bracknell area ? Having brought a new car, I now need to get rid of the zafira and don't want to have to pay main dealer rates, as that's likely to be almost as much as the car is worth.
