Vectra B 2.2 sri Manual Drive Shaft Seals

Does anyone know if you can replace the Drive Shaft seals on a 2001 Vectra B 2.2 SRI without stripping the gearbox?

You should be able to do it without stripping the gear box but i am sure you would have to remove the drives hafts to replace the seals

Ok well Drive shafts is pretty straight forward. Does anyone know if there bearings that can be replaced as well. I have some play in the driveshafts but it is uneconomical to get a recon box.

Maybe your drive shaft is damaged meaning you need to replace it rather than assuming there is something wrong with your gearbox

That would be cheaper for sure but I have the same problem on both sides, my best guess is that I have a problem with a bearing inside the gearbox and that is what is allowing both drive shafts to move up and down. I think that is why both drive shaft seals have failed.

check to see if the drive shafts are fully engaged in to the diff and that the snap rings are on the ends of the inner cv joints.
the inner cv joints are not 100% free of movement even when all is good theres a tiny amount of play.
