first 2.2se and loving it

Hi all,

I live in the Netherlands and have just bought a brilliant 2.2 astra coupe from 2002

I have had a few ideas on light modifications, changing the middle console incorporating a sat nav media unit (hints and tips would be appreciated) will be the first thing I am going to tackle.

I do have a question about throttle response, mine is very slow and I have looked into it and from what I can see it's a common problem although not yet been able to find a cause or solution of the problem,
Please help .

Is the throttle slow to respond at all RPM or a specific range?

Hey,

All through the rev range all throught the gearbox all through me trying to show off to my girlfriend:banghead:

You could try cleaning the throttle body, as it could be caked in crud and oil?

Ok I gave it a go and I think it helped a bit
But still not immediate response to the pedal, whitch it should be right?
Maby my expectations are to high because I am comparing it to my last car,
I have timed it and there is about half a second delay which is not much I know,
but it feels like ages.

I've always noticed a very slight delay on all my previous Vauxhalls when planting the throttle pedal. They are electric throttles, so seem a little slower to respond than cable throttles. Not sure if anyone else can confirm this?

Yeah I agree I can't confirm from a professional point of view but my renault is cable and has no delay but my Astra does have a very slight delay and so does my friends Astra turbo it's not really a big difference though a second maybe at most.

Oh ok , well I knew it was electric but I didn't expect 0.5 seconds but if that's normal then I can live with it, still loving the car 😉

Get it above 3500 rpm with your foot down and you will forget about that straight away :-) it's the best non turbo engine I've had

You can actually buy something that goes inbetween the peddle sensor and the ECU which improves throttle response:

Then I guess it's time to start looking into the centre console upgrade to touch screen satnav,
Any tips ? I have seen it before so I know it can be done, any members here done it ??
