Hi guys,

I have a problem with my vectra engine and beg for your advice. Unfortunately none of my known mechanics does not have any glue where this issue comes from. Car starts without problems, accelerates well with 1st gear, but later power disappears until 4000 rpm. Above 4000 rpm it has a plenty of power again not dependant on the gear. while driving on the road no problems, but if there is some up hill road or it needs to slow down because of some cars in front only way to keep speed above 60 miles is to shift from 5th to 3 rd gear or sometimes even to 2nd to drive up. Errors codes are not found. High pressure fuel pump was replaced but this was not the solution. Fuel, air filters and sparks are new. One thing that I have notice recently is the presence of petrol in the oil. So what a hell is going on?

Thanks. I had to bargain with a garage to check this as all of them was sceptic when i have mentioned possible failure. actualy this was an issue, but unfortunatly not the only one. timing chain was a problem also and it was replaced. but after resolving issues with swirl flaps and timming chain i still have problems 🙁

coffee grinder sound on acceleration. could it be related to any failure of high presure fuel pump?
engine has enough power, but when hardly accelerated on the 3rd gear it starts to fail and looks like couple of cylinders does not fuction. when engine off and on again problem is not present. no problem when accelerated hard on other gears.

Hi there did you fix your problem? Looks like I'm running into similar issues. So far engine was twice hesitant to accelerate above 120km/h.

Once power cutting off for one second, after that OK
Second time no acceleration above 120km/h + spanner light on the dashboard. After stopping the engine and starting problem was gone.

I went to the garage, They could see some fault related to Fuel Presure, they cleared the code, tested the pump (checking pressure by different rpm), pump looked OK, went to the highway from the garage to test. No problem. This morning I expereinces again loss of power for about 0.5s, no alarm, no spanner light. Going to the garage again.

I am not from UK. But i had similar issue at the beginning. do they have tested pressure before high pressure fuel pump or after. in my at the beginning they measured before and said it is ok, but then other more advanced measured after fuel pump and got it much lower than it should be. thus replaced fuel pump and for that time it was the issue.
