what to expect from a sports cat

just had a look on the hoffman website for a sports cat, they claim upto a 15 bhp increase, is this right and anyone who has had one fitted how have you found it to be 8)

The cat is one of the most restrictive parts of the exhaust system. The claims of 15bhp can be achieved, providing your adding the cat to a decent exhaust system.

There are a few people on here who have sports cats as well, someone should pipe up tomorrow

is it woth getting with air box mods, and remus center section??? then a remap in the future?

sure is mate do all the little mods like the filter mods anything that de -restricts the car the better

the supposed 15 bhp gain :shock: will include the precat gain

so precat = 5 - 8 bhp gain

sports cat = 2 - 3 bhp gain

actual gain = 7 - 11 bhp

all mods help. i did the air box mod' and now gone up to a viper, found even bigger difference drool.gif
and the hoffmann from on line auto sport well word's loose me WOW, just remember you will want to stop as well lol

I removed my pre-cat and added a 200 cell sports cat a few months ago,

A rolling road run was performed before and after, i gained:

11 Bhp @ 5000 Rpm
18 ft/lb Torque @ 4000 Rpm

Wot were the overall figures,before and after

Before:
140 Bhp @ 5500 RPM
134 ft/lb @ 4000 RPM

After:
146 Bhp @ 5500 RPM
152 ft/lb @ 4000 RPM

On the graph, both sets of results are a lot smoother after pre-cat removal/sports cat fitted than before

Bhp b4 was pretty low comapred to the standrd fig of 144....

Mine pulled 155.2 on saturday and 2.2estates car pulled 150 ,we have exactly the same mods too..

i got told the imsher back bax is restrictive but mine got 156.5 on the rollers with just a panel filter and no other mods

i heard irm's is just as if not more restrictive than standard.After sat power run, we have taken off the viper, cuz the bend in the pipe drained s..t loads of power, it went from 136.5 took pipe off then steight up to 165.6, and now the computer need's to get use to it, and hopefully bagging 170. fingers crossed lol drool.gif

to start with yes, but then mick redesigned it and turned it the other way, so its facing the battery, as i was told at the rolling road, he has cut the pipe down by a good half and put another hole in for the air scencer ( soz cr p spelling lol) and used the standard hole for the vacume take of pipe,wh,ich gose to the throttle body oh boy much better what.. oh its the 2.2 vec c pipe
