How does remapping & decatting to produce more bhp result in more mpg???
What's a DMF & swirl flap?
I was looking at the Vectra c, is it better to go for a tdi?
DMF = Dual Mass Flywheel
Swirlflaps = connecting rod on the inlet which controls the swirl flaps. There are 8 ports on the inlet, and there are either 4 or 8 in use depending on throttle position.
You can get better MPG on a diesel with a tuning box / remap as one of the things they do is increase the fuel pressure. On the CDTI, the engine works at WOT all the time (I think) and the power is controlled by the amount of diesel being injected into the cylinders.
In my old CDTI, I drove from Sheffield to Cornwall, and back on a single tank. Could show almost 900 miles to a tank on a motorway run doing just under 70mph.
