chip location

Hi all. Anyone know where a chip would be on an astra g 2.2 sri. The ecu is on the inlet just wondering where the chip is that's meant to be on it. I have some sort of electronic key too

the chip is in the ecu not sure you can get at them easy
but you have a wireless immobiliser there is a receiver on the ignition barrel and a small chip inside the keyfob (the key bit)

I mean the performance chip. I've got the ecu off the inlet but its only thin n no place to put a chip. Its not possible to open the ecu either so where else would a performance chip go?

you dont take the chip out you have them remapped 🙂

You don't put chips on the ECU (like you could on the older engines). You need to remap the ECU via the ODB port.

Oh OK. Well what's the little chip key thing I have. It looks like it plugs into something n I think the bloke said its got my map on it or something. Its green plastic, looks like a small SNES or gameboy cartridge in a way

it should plug in under the handbrake lever

it's the superchips map, which plugs into a superchips map reader, there is nothing you can use it for except - handing it over to a superchips dealer to adjust the ecu map.

I'll have a look next time I'm at the car but I'm sure the only thing there is the obd port. Oh n BTW last time I got a guy to plug into the obd it didn't work n he's a mechanic. Its the same shape as obdII but when iI've looked at pics on putting a clip across two pins to flash engine codes my port seems to be missing at least one pin compared to other astra g's. Is there something different with a 2.2 sri? 02 plate. Also if the place to plug my chip thing in isn't under the handbrake where would it be?

I'm not with the car right now. My cam chain jumped off 7 months ago n I've driven n been peed off with a Scooby ever since. Wish I looked at my astra earlier as there is no damage at all to the engine. I think its because the chain jumped the bottom sprocket when stationary n just as I turned the key to start. There was no movement....lucky me 🙂

Can't wait to get in a reliable car again
