AMD 1.3ghz Processor, 512mb RAM, 30gig HDD, I've got Fedora Core 5 running on it at the minute, and just on my way to go buy another HDD and a LAN card.

Well, this one I think is shagged. I think it needs a new mother board, as when you power it on, the fans spin up, but nothing else happens. The CD draws can be opened, but it won't boot. It won't even boot to the bios.

have you checked all the ide cables to the hardrive matt some cables dont have the wee nipple bit at the end of the cable and its easy to put it in the wrong way around also if it has a floppy disk drive disconect that i had the same probs when i built a freinds pc with old a new parts

Yep, tried everything Baz, disconnected everything, checked all the cabling, ide cables were in the correct way, and jumper settings were all correct. The problem is, is that it's not even getting to the bios for the mother board, so can't check anything.

I'm selling it on for parts to a bloke from work, so he'll probably just end up taking it to bits anyway.

have you tried the cmos battery sometimes they go

yep, that's already been replaced.

if you do replace the mainboard you can get good deals on bundles from side shops that do pc gear i got a 3.4ghz proccesor and mainboard and memory for 300 all brand new stock they also had the sepron cpu from amd bundle for like 70 and 20 for memory

Well it's gone now, so it's not my problem anymore. The bloke who bought it will try and get it working, and if not, he'll be using it for parts. I really want to build a PC, but don't have the space in my house for one, so I'll have to make do with just a laptop for the time being.

Well the bloke who bought this off me has put a new (old) graphics card into the PC, and it's working fine now. Looks like the graphics card was causing issues with the MotherBoard, as it was an aftermarket card, and probably not installed properly.

Had I had a spare one, this is one of the things I would have checked.
