A friend has an astra G 2.2, the engine was swapped over as the oil pump failed. The engine and sensors + loom was swapped over with another 2.2. The ecu and loom to the car were left as original.
During the swap, the power sounder was completely disconnected. The car now refuses to start, the ECU light is not working. There's no spark. Op-com connects ok (hideous interface on that program). It can talk to the ecu, and immobiliser and antitheft system.
The ecu shows 3 faults all to do with the electronic throttle as persistent faults. Swapping the original throttle unit also gives the same faults, as does swapping the original sensor loom with only the ECU and throttle unit connected.
He's been told the power sounder being disconnected means the ecu needs unlocked with a tech2. I had entered the security code via opcom when checking the immobiliser and antitheft system. I couldn't see any other option in opcom that would enter an "unlock" code.
Opcom also reads all the other sensors values as ok, air temp, pressure, water temp, etc. And all the control tests work except the throttle setting test.
ECU pins all checked and good. Earthing all reconnected. Opcom can switch the service/spanner light off and on, nothing for the engine management light.
My conclusion is that the ecu is looking part dead. Or is there some secret procedure to get it alive again.
