theres a few things on this engine that can cause lumpy idle
water temp sensor
faulty egr valve
dirty throttle body
dirty fuel filter
the engine can be turned over by the bottom pulley bolt if you wanted to check the top sprocket alignment as in the above thread
but if the engine is running then i dont think it would be timing related not unless the chains are rattling real bad
No rattle mate just the lumpy/hunting idle with no eml light. I did get the AA out to have a look at it and he couldn't find what was wrong so as I have their parts and labour cover it got took to halfords Autocentre (as its one of their authorised places). They had the car for 3 days to tell me there is no fault codes, of which I knew anyway and that they think its a timing issue and charged me £49 for the privilege 🙁 they then said they would want another £500 just to strip it down and check the chain (not change it as that would be extra) of which I told them to do one.
•Egr has been blanked and cheater fitted 🙂
•Throttle body is as clean as a whistle (AA blokes words not mine lol)
•new fuel filter a few weeks back which never solved the problem
There is a hissing type noise coming from the p/s fluid thing area which we the ought might be an air leak, but that goes when you put full lock on the steering.
He also sprayed carb cleaner all around the intake etc to see if that was leaking but still nothing.
If it was the cts would the temp be the same on the dash as it says on opcom?
Sorry for the long reply lol
