oil problem

Hi all,

Im new to this site. i drive a astra 2.2 bertone and its developed very creamy oil ive taken it to my local garage and they say its just condensation but there seems to be a lot of it.
i recently done a oil and filter change and also flushed it, but as soon as i started using it again the cream returned.
I am not losing any power and the coolant is fine, but my dipstick is covered in rust and creamy oil.
The only thing i have noticed is the oil filler cap is slightly loose but would this cause so much condensation.
I would be grateful if someone could help me with this problem.

For some reason they do this, apparently head gasket failure is very rare.

it is a common thing with the z22se taking them a good run soon clears the cream out
how did you dipstick get rusty its stainless steel 🙂

im guessing you do short trips as above take it for a good long drive it will soon clear .mine has been the same for the last 5 yrs with the mayo

Was doing to suggest the same as @[deleted], do you do a lot of short trips? That is the main cause of the emulsion

I thought the dipstick was stainless but it seems rusty all the way up. I do only do short journeys prob only 5/6 miles per journey but its got so bad that i struggle to see how much oil i have in the sump.
Is it worth changing the dipstick and its holder cause as soon as i change the oil its gonna go creamy again.

As said its fairly common with short journeys, if it was me take it for good run and drop the oil put a fresh filter and oil in.

When was the last time it was changed and with what grade oil?

thats my questions answered lol. ive just started getting mayo. short journeys is all i do. so theres my problem right there.🙂

I suppose that you are going to have to start taking longer trips altogether! In seriousness, I would suggest that you take a bit of a longer ride, listen to some music and make sure that you change/refresh anything related to your oil. I think it will actually work a treat.

It never happened in my Vec C, although it had a warmer stat. Since ive replaced the stat and now use a cooler stat (it seams to be the norm for all other Z22SE's but not the same as the factory Vec C) in now get a little mayo. Several Vec C z22 drivers have noticed this, our cars used to always sit just below 90 say about 88 but now they seam to sit about 83-4.
