Matt Simon Ward said: Did you try a mallet behind the disc then turn the disc and mallet again etc? For an hour! I don't have a lot of space to work with either, and the fact the drive is on a slope doesn't fill me with confidence having the handbrake off either
PowR_Remap Fair enough, is there not level road outside your house?. My mate would say I'm not hitting it hard enough! I brought wheel blocks from halfords too £4.99
Matt evocarlos said: is it the locking bolt holding it in ? seized in Locking bolt came out really easy. I'm probably not hitting it hard enough. But for £40, I don't have to get wet again!

But for £40, I don't have to get wet again! wd40 on the hub and then as si said big ass hammer and give it a good whack you need to loose the rust on the hub rim be sure to copper slip the hub rim make life easier to remove in the future 🙂 £4.60 🙂
Matt I put plenty of copper slip on the fronts. I'm just going to let the garage do the rears on Tuesday.
corsaZ22se I must be the hulk as I can pop the retainer springs on by hand or with the aid of a small screw drive so as not to damage the paint. 🙂

Matt When I take the fronts off to clean inside the wheels, I'll have to touch up the paint where I scratched it off.

corsaZ22se new clips on mine, popped them on with a small screw driver! years of working on ag machinery makes car stuff seem very small and light weight.
PowR_Remap Matt said: I think my problem is my delicate PC / Office based hands :X3: Same here Matt! Although I'm not too bad..
Matt They've had their fair share of cuts and bruises from working on cars, but not enough to toughen them up like I'm sure some members on here have
evocarlos Matt said: They've had their fair share of cuts and bruises from working on cars, but not enough to toughen them up like I'm sure some members on here have my hands are always dirty even when washed well 🙂 paint or some other waterproof substance if not that then the rust from work lol id love to have girly hands 🙂
Matt Perseverance and a big hammer came through in the end! If you are removing the discs, you will need to remove the carrier as the discs don't clear it. Calliper rewind tool in action (makes it so easy to wind it back in!) I also needed to adjust the handbrake cable, which is a piece of piss on the MK5!
Daz a little tip on the handbracke cable adjustment matt.. adjust it up a little at a time and make sure the levers on the calipers dont move away from the stops.. as if they dont return all the way the calipers wont wind thereself out as the pads wear down and you will get too much travel on ure handbrake lever...

Cheers Daz. I followed the guide here when doing them http://vauxhall.workshop-manuals.com/astra-h/index.php?id=2790 I took my time doing them, and check everything several times as I was doing it. I've not driven it yet (come to work in Amy's car tonight).
