New to the direct engined Signum

Hello,

I bought a 2.2 Signum this week thinking the 2.2 direct would be a good choice.
However it seems like a fair amount of preventative 'mods' like the swirl flapper valves and egr etc

I've had vauxhalls before (2.5 Omega that I fitted 3.0 cams in, irmscher lowering springs and cold air feeds to air box etc)

What subtle mods can be done to the 2.2 direct?

Planning to take the inlet manifold off next week and make an egr blanking plate.
Is it possible to remove the swirl flaps?

If you blank thr direct 2.2 egr the ecu light will come on.

My car is a 56 reg and fortunately no EGR system.
Had a frustrating day off...major service done with proper engine flush with flushing oil. New plugs and filters through out and what a difference!!! Quieter, smoother, quicker etc But then found r/o/s coil snapped at the very base.
Then I had to get the rotten exhaust hangers replaced with new solid metal ones and a repair section for the flexi link on exhaust.
Springs on order, fit them then new front tyres and four wheel alignment.
A very nice car that just needs some tlc

The 2.2 direct does have a water cooled egr system.

From May 2006 the direct engine was made without an EGR system.
