Anyone good at chains

Hi All,

Quite adept with a spanner, but when it's cam belts/chains I prefer to take it somewhere to be done, is there anyone near Chesterfield S40 that can do them?

Not looking at straight away either

chris i fitted mine myself for the first time ,its quite easy really just take your time and double check everything

I'm in Sheffield. Have never fitted one, but would be willing to give a hand if you went down the DIY route

That'd be good mate, would ensure that Tea & Bacon are in good and plentiful supply 😃

Probably a job for when the missus has gone through labour lol

Also what's the balance shaft? Been reading many threads gaining some knowledge, hence why I'm posting a bit more now lol

its 2 weights inside the engine that spin 2x the speed to counteract the 2nd order vibrations from the pistons going up and down 🙂
heres one of mine that was removed

its a bit of a trek for me but as said the chains are not really that hard to do it a case of check then double check then fit the chains then the checking again 🙂

Worth doing it all in one go then, so what should I expect to pay to do the chain and balance shaft? (not including the cost of PG Tips and Bacon)

haha mini meet at yours chris ,tis a trek for me too ,but the funny thing is that im working in derby everyday .4hrs travelling evreyday takes the toll on ya though :sleep:

Definatly! Then I can have a go in the estate 😉

Middle of a house move atm so all my money is going into that, but I like to keep on top of maintenance

And where in Derby are you working? I'm working over in Belper

when i get the bloody thing back on the road lol,not sure which part but we are only a couple of minutes away from derby football ground.ellesmere avenue is the road we are working down

Yeah I know it, not far from my work, I live in Chesterfield which is another 30 mins away
