Recommended Wire Sizes

Hi all.

Ordering the cables etc ready for when I do my new sound system in the car, and was wondering what the recommended size of cable from the amp to the crossovers?

I have seen some on other peoples posts around the net and they are using 16 AWG OFC?

just a good quality OFC copper twin you don't need higher than 16 gauge unless you pushing 1000 watts and completely ott for 50w rms to your door speakers

The components are 115w RMS as side (230w RMS set)

but what are you giving them from the amp ?
mine are all fed from the 5.1 amp thats 50w rms per channel

The amp is a 4 channel 1600w (800w RMS) will be powering the set of components up front with a set of mids in the rear.

that is a lot 200w per channel i could run 4 speakers per corner with that lol

Right here we go....

The component set I am using up front spec's;

RMS: 230 watts per set / 115 watts each side

The mids set I am using in rear spec's;

RMS Power: 170 Watts

the 4 channel amp I will be using spec's as follows;

125W x 4 RMS @ 4 Ohm
125W x 2 RMS + 400W x 1 RMS @ 4 Ohm bridged
400W x 2 RMS @ 4 Ohm bridged / 1600W MAXIMUM POWER

By looking at this, each corner will actually be getting 125w rms, which is fine for the front as its only 10w more, I'll tweak the amps too using USB from the laptop.
