Where is the plug for the swirl flap?

I've got this constant swirl flap fault code and it will cost almost as much as I paid for the car to get it fixed, to be honest I've not got that kinda money to throw at it, I've read I can unplug it and it will stop the EML coming on, does anyone know what plug it is? If possible could you show me on this picture?

Hello saw your post Ive got a swirl flap problem also the arm leading to it seems loose. How did you solve your problem. Cheers ajn

6 is the bar that your saying is loose. You ned to find out if its just loose or it has come off one of the swirl flap. If the flaps are just sticking, then you could try freeing them by spraying plenty of carb cleaned down the intake after the MAF while the engine is running, then take it for a blast, this can saometimes work. On the left part of this pic you can see a pipe labelled #1. This is the pipe that feeds the manifold the EGR gasses, and its them gasses mixed with the oil vapour from the breather that gunks up and makes the swirl flaps stick. You can either blank the EGR at the EGR of just fit a plate there on pipe #1 at that diamond shaped flange.

If you cant free the flaps by spraying carb cleaner you may have to take off the manifold and do it that way.

The worst case scenario if you will have to take the manifold off and fit the swirl flap kit, you no longer hace to replace the manifold, just the fit the kit.

Thanks for the reply, last night my mate put it on a snap on plug in device and tested the swirl flap acculator (the snap on machine was moving the #6 bar on test mode) the bar was moving back and forth but not in one motion almost stopping or like robotic movement. The bar end which is visible have started rattling, the car is now starts after lots of trying but wont pick up any speed at all. So you recon take the air intake ( is it the big black plastic pipe from the air filter after the maf) pipe off and stick about 1/4 off a can in. Hope this makes sense. Ajn

                                     How much carb cleaner a whole can with the engine running. How long before test driving it. Cheers ajn

Car started up first time from cold this morning running fine soon as 1st gear selected about to tale off lumpy idle un drivable and then hard to start. Im getting some carb cleaner today is it the biggest plastic hose leading to the carb the place to spray into to clean the swirl flaps. Cheers ajn

Yes mate, get a mate to keep the revs up as it will try to stall as your spraying it in.

Aahh thats where Im going wrong it cut out every time I sprayed in, thing is with lumpy idle its a mission to keep it running, Im expecting loads of smoke but for how long, thanks for the replies lads. Ajn
