common issues

hi all iam new to the forum room basically wont to do a engine conversion to my mk4 astra van and i wanna be different from everyone who puts the z20lets in so i thought about the z22se but before i get more into it is there any common issues with that particular engine

Not really any particularly bad common issues with this engine. The main thing to check is when / if the chain has been changed if it's approaching 10 years old or 100,000 miles. If there is no history, factor in getting the chains replaced for peace of mind.

yeah i saw the chains can play up same with the idle can mess about

other thing to look out for is the egr valve but soon remedied if its found faulty other than the throttle body getting mucked up from the egr

how would i know if they are broke

poor running and i think the light comes on the dash
i personally had mine removed while it was under warranty as even back then it was known there due to fail
