Thanks for the help so far - appreciated.

However, following problems with a starter solenoid, my car (55 reg Signum Z22YH 2.2 petrol) is still refusing to start, with no `start' voltage on terminal XE3/14 of the UEC, which connects to the starter solenoid wire.

Also I cannot establish electrical continuity from the UEC starter relay (yellow relay nearest windscreen) contact `terminal 87' to XE3/14, which the wiring diagram shows as a direct electrical link. Strange !

Also I have checked out 2003 reg 2.0 diesel UEC - same terminal numbering - and same issue :-(

Anyone with any background on this ? Is another relay in the starter circuit somewhere ???

Are you the same "Omega" from the Vec c forum? If so do you still have a dash fault/cim?

My many problems were what I thought was a cim fault, dead dials, abs & tc lights on and more often than not the car refused to turn over. These were all sorted and fault codes cleared by simply cleaning the abs plug.

Hi - yep - I'm the same omega2498 on Vec C forum - although I don't use that Forum much these days.
Apparently there is/was a problem with dash instruments on some Astras and my 55 reg Signum if you put the ignition key in and were too quick' on hitting thestart' key position. So I now get in, ignition on, make my nuts comfortable, bring up the Sat Nav, belt up - and THEN hit the start position. The (now deservedly defunct) Vx Dealer could never find anything with Tech 2, and their advice was that you had to let the system `boot up' for while, before starting. I must admit we have never had a problem since. So at least I got one useful piece of advice from them !! Regards.

Update - got the wrong yellow relay :-) Doh .... starter relay is the yellow one nearest the front bumper ! I now suspect an earth or power supply problem in the starter circuit.
