southard26 i have z22se in a vauxhall vectra x reg when i put foot down it seems to lack power some times it seems fine but when driving on motorway and go throgh the gears when i change gear it dont seem to put the power down i have changes coil pack to a new one give it a service done a cold air feed on air box removed pre cat had chain done just over a year a go i have been having these problems for last 3 months i have even changed the inlet pipe to a vec c one for better breathing like i say some times its fine but most of the time it feels laggy to get it working properly sometimes i have put my foot down and lift it back up and put it down again and this seems to make it seem better what else could i do it feels like a bad flat spot is it worth me changing the fpr to 3.3 bar one i know on these it standerd at 3.0 bar or removing and cleaning all injectors any info would be helpfull
guy_27 Any fault codes? Throttle body clean? Egr blanked off? What fuel do you run? This could make a big difference.
southard26 i have done egr blank and cheat i bought off here throttle body has been cleaned and i only use shell garage fuel and in the last week have been using the new nitro fuel but this has made no difference
IDI_AMIN It could be there is heavy carbon build up on pistons and valves have you ever considered this as a possibility .Due to age thats what i would think i know mine were nasty with it a y reg yours is an x
southard26 i thought the same a couple of months a go so i took out spark plugs and put red ex in each pot then put the spark plugs back in and left for about 14 hours then next day removed spark plugs and let the red-ex evaporate and turned engine over to get rid of the rest with a cloth over the top of holes then put all back together and this still made no difference i got told to do this method by a back street garage who said this is the easiest way to clean the pots they also told me i could put other things down the plug holes to clean which is better but i couldn't remember what it was called
southard26 they also told me about getting injectors off and leaving them to soak in red ex over night and about changing the fpr to a 3.3 so i get more petrol and get rid of flat spots
IDI_AMIN Check the picture of mine you wont sort that with redex thats the head off and a wire brush on a drill job to clean that up. i was using sand paper and all sorts to clean mine up remember yours is a year older than mine
IDI_AMIN Afraid not its new head bolts and new gasket maybe new valve stem seals as part of the kit you can re use your chains but that is up to you
southard26 i have no idea about chains i got garage to do mine so dont really want to mess about with that just encase i put it back on wrong i dont mind taking cylinder head off as i have done this on other cars but not with a chain
IDI_AMIN The haynes manual lists a loss of power and a few other things as a sign the engine needs a major overhaul i.e new piston rings ,valve stem seals cleaning and lapping valves etc .if a complete service does not remedy the situation
