Starting problem after cleaning throttle body

Hi, i cleaned the throttle body last week using carburettor cleaner (Car would start idle fine but if tried to rev the revs would drop and cut out so thought id start by cleaning the throttle body). I took the throttle body off cleaned that then cleaned round the casing on the engine before i put it back on. car then wouldnt start just turned over. kept doing it but all it done was slightly catch as if it was going to start then dies. I got it to start but the revs idled at 4000 turned it off then back to just turning over and slightly catching again. had to re-charge the battery checked and made sure everything was all plugged in and tightened up everything seems fine. I got it to start saturday idled fine so took it for a 30 minute ride when i got back turned it off started it up fine. lacked a bit of go when accelerating but was just glad it started again. went out to it again today and its back to not starting again just catching and dieing.

Has anyone got any suggestions what this could be?

Is the throttle body fitted back on correctly? Could there be a slight leak now it's been re-fitted?

Seems to be all tight and no leaks. Gasket on its fine no splits or chunks out of it

how dirty was the throttle body ?

Wasn't too bad. Cleaned up with hardly any effort really so wouldn't say it was too bad

When the car is sat engine turned off how is the butterfly inside the throttle body meant to sit? And is it meant to have a slight gap around the edge?

Looking at this image in here: Ported And Polished Throttle Body it looks like there should be a small gap when the throttle body is "closed"

Cheers same as the I've got on then. Think I might pop scrappy in the morning see if I can get another one there to make rule out that part being faulty. Fuel is there as pressed the valve and it shot out. I've cleaned the spark plugs as they were black but that could have been from trying to start it so many times. I've borrowed the sensor which is just above the throttle body off a mate so that's fine. I'm just lost to what it could be I tried to get the car to kick in using easy start but that didnt work at all.

No, just solid lights. Eml handbrake and battery but that's usual until car starts

Would it turn if the immobiliser was playing up

yeah just it wont start but the eml light flashes while trying to

Ok ill keep an eye on that but im99% sure it stays solid. The problem is getting right on my nerves now

I know someone with something like opcom charge £20 think ill have to get him round see what's on it. All this started from cleaning the throttle body which should have been an easy job

would faulty spark plugs or coil pack cause it to just turn over and not kick in? though doesnt that easy start give it a kick start
