Matt Hey im hoping someone can help the engine in my vec b has seized recently and after some searching ive found that one of the pistons has got a hole in it. i was just wondering if there is any way that this engine can be saved??? I think im going to get a donor engine but you just dont know what you are getting do you!? any help would be great!
evocarlos its prolly best to get a donor if theres a hole in the piston then something serious happened to get it there valve damage the cost of getting the head repaired and replacing the piston and getting the liners honed/bored is way more than a replacement engine would cost
vocky due to the low value of used z22se engines compared with the higher cost of rebuilding a damaged unit it is best to source a running engine and swap them over.
MikeS I thought u meant seized on an old engine that wont turn over I have brought back to life an engine by simply flushing diesel through it lol as for OP - source a new engine !
Matt see i bought all the bits to do rings and mains on the engine ive got so i was thinking buy another engine and put the rings and everything in that one then got best of both worlds! anyone selling a decent second hand unit??
chris_bennett buy a runner rip it apart replace rings ect if you wish and big ends ect and then when you put it all back together you effectly have a brand new engine all bar the pistons and cams and crank
Matt i picked up my engine from the machine shop and the guys recon that there was hardly any damage to the bores! So they have lightly honed the bores and ground the crank to make perfect! The shell bearings melting onto the crank is what made it seize! The engine was really black inside so looks as tho it hasnt had a very good life. Picking up my new parts washer tomorrow so that i can give the engine what it deserves cant wait to get it all back together! Of all the engines ive tinkered with this seems to be a very simple engine. If anyone is interested then i can add pictures as i go to help others!
