vectra 2.2 sri direct 2007 missfire

hi there was wondering if any one could kindly offer any advice on a problem with my vectra missfiring at 3500 rpm and then the spanner light comes on and some times it goes into limp mode as soom as i stop and turn the engine off and restart the light resets and all is well this only happens when im really giving it some stick or is under load it starts fine with no noises ticks over fine and power is fine as is fuel econemy my wife says should just drive slow but wheres the fun in that am new to vauxhalls just really liked the way mine looked with the xp11 and big alloys so had to buy it would be very grateful of any help or sudgestions thanks jon

Sounds like the direct fuel pump. Pop the bonnet and see who its made by. It should either be printed Siemens or Continental. Continental are the newer supposed fail proof ones.

Not hard to fit but you are talking around £250-£320 for a new part.

But you need to get a code reader on it first and see what's stored before you start changing parts.

hi thankks for the advice i pluged my cheapo code reader into it and it came up with no faults will have to take it a garage and try proper fault reader

With the CAN system, some of the cheap readers can only read one of the ECU's so you may need to take it to have it read properly.
