Sinclair18 I have a 2.2 sri vectra and it seems to be using oil and when put foot down anything after about 3 thou revs it puts out black/blue smoke any suggestions in what may cause this?
si_c1978 most likely valve stem seals or piston rings im afraid if your reeeeeeeeally lucky blocked breather somewhere. blue black smoke is from oil entering the combustion chamber and being burnt.
Sinclair18 Ive pressure tested for the pistons and what not n they are 150psi pressure so there fine but il check the stem seals and see what like it is. Cheers for advise.
si_c1978 good luck, there will be someone who can help more im sure. is the smoke while accelerating or on overrun?
Sjdickso Valve guides or the rings are gunked up, time to get it recondition or a new lump, also has it ever had the chains done?
si_c1978 if its during acceleration oil is being pulled into the combustion chamber, this can be caused by high crankcase pressure check to see if you have any pressure blowing thro the dipstick tube or filler cap (take stick out while running and hold a piece of paper over the hole if no smoke is visible)
