2.2 P1112 Swirl Flap Stuck

Hi all have a 2.2 direct and getting an engine check light.

Code is p1112 61 swirl flap stuck.

Its running OK but I'm not driving it for obvious reasons. Before I purchase the new swirl flap mod kit circa 200 notes I'm looking to clean up the flaps, it might just be carbon built up. I had a similar problem with the throttle body and that sorted it with some carb cleaner.

Is it possible to spray the flaps without removing the inlet manifold.?

Ie would spraying carb cleaner direct into the manifold via the throttle body work? And not causes issues? Was thinking with the engine running and someone else opening the throttle gently.

the flaps go right on the head at the inlet manifold

might be worth a try with some 10k boost or simmler if you wanted to clean the inlet thru

iirc all 4 swirl flaps are connected to 1 actuator so unless a swirl flap has completely broke away (unlikely) id look at changing the actuator. see if you can get 1 from a scrappy somewhere.

Ones probably jammed and won't allow the motor to return hence why it's throwing the eml. If it was me I'd be seeing if they can be removed and just leave the motor plugged in.

One flap was completely buggered. Got a new inlet manifold from a scrappy with what seems like a good set of flaps.

Putting it back together on my next day off. Anyone know the best place for a new gasket for the manifold?

doubt they will do anything to fuel economy in a 2.2 engine anyway

all the flaps do is create air turbulence to improve combustion at low revs / idle

slight increase in fuel economy

I would remove em m8 and leave it plugged in also

Nah. Keeping them in. Should be good for the remainder of my time in ownership.

Aye. Rooted with the paranoid android ROM. Thinking of getting rid for a HTC though. Its so dammed thin and slippy to hold.

benchmarks make it 15% quicker than htc one

i did have an lg optimus black and it was ideal in terms of weight and size but only had a 1ghz cpu

Seen the spec sheet for the new Nexus 5? Looks mint. Defo getting that. Made public in may at the Google conference. Plus the Nexus 7.7 tablet. Probably get that too. Haha.

Mine got rooted and flashed with in 5 mins of me opening it. Haha.

Sold that now though. 16GB was just too small. I sold it for 250 on eBay rooted and that. Bought it new for 199 before the 32GB was released. Madness.

Gasket is part of the flap assembly iirc. So to get new gasket u have to buy the flaps

If you look at the pic Carl posted on the last page it shows its all in one with the flaps.
