Z22YH Fuel Smell :S

I seem to be posting weekly since I have owned my Vectra C Direct, It seems obvious that the Z22SE is a much better engine than the Z22YH. lol!

I can now smell fuel from inside the car and when I turn the engine off and listen I can hear like a hissing sound around this area in particular:

Is there any common problems or easy ways to find the leak without using a lighter or match

Hi, I have exactly the same problem on my 2.2 petrol Signum.
Have you managed to fix it? And what did you changed?

Check the fuel pressure sensor on the rail or the fuel pressure regulator also the fuel pump is high pressured get someone to start and turn the engine off whilst you look to see where the leak is coming from.

If your pump says Siemens on it then it's possible it's not been changed as there was a recall/service upgrade for the fuel pressure regulator and high pressure pump on the YH (this ended in 2011 apparently, mines a '56 plate and mines been done). If it says Continental then it may have been done already, but certainly sounds like a pressure issue if you can hear hissing.

If you still have an issue or find you need the pump sorted then these guys might be able to help.

A common area for the z22yh to leak fuel is at the chain end of the engine. There is a little metal disc thing in the fuel line, i'll try and find a picture.
