ABS light QUERY

Does anyone know if a broken brake pad sensor trigger the abs light as i see the brake pad sensor wire connects to the abs sensor and thought this was maybe why abs light was on i have a new abs sensor but the bolt holding it on is a bit rusty and the torx head has worn away and its gonna be a bit of a cunt to try and get it off so thought i would try the brake pad sensor first as its joined to abs wire and hope this puts abs light off it is on my mot failure list suggestions please

A broken and/or worn brake pad sensor wont trigger the abs light. It only shows up a orange light which is a circle with some dashes on each side of it.

If your bolt is worn off might be worth returning the new abs sensor and get a new hub complete with 1 already fitted. Astra/zafira hubs are about £30-40 retail (thats what i paid several times) so vectra one should be around that price mark from your local spares shop.

Traders place might do it a bit cheaper if your in the trade or good at negotiating.......

ok i thought it would be connected to the fault as it was when my strut broke it triggered abs and tc lights when the brake sensor cable broke someone else had this problem recently as well the exact same problem i already have the abs sensor 29 quid from euro car parts i get the trade discount from my uncle who is mechanic or another mechanic i know who can get me these discounts but i work in a garage myself otherwise it would cost about 40 quid

the abs could only need cleaned they both look intact i may try cleaning them been searching the net and others have done this and disconnected the battery for a short time and computer resets and seems to cure the problem will see how it goes whatever is easiest method

Yeah try cleaning them first and disconnect battery for a bit and see if that helps.

Go it sorted it wasn't the actual abs sensor it was the wire up above that which the abs sensor plugs into on the drivers side it had been cut from when my strut broke happened over a year ago. It was that long i forgot which side it happened on. Because the brake pad wear sensor was broken on the other side i thought it was connected silly me

picture of stripped wires .this is where the wire was broken, brake pipe comes through the rubber grommet along with this wire which attaches to wiring loom under bonnet although i never noticed this until after removing hub like a right knob and cleaning round area where sensor meets c.v. joint and also some degreaser on sensor to remove dirt .got the sensor bolt out with vise grips just didn't have a decent set handy in the garage last night had to bring my own. Also eml came on again on way to garage today but after disconnecting battery and doing this work it went out along with tc light and abs .zero lights on dash in a couple of years wonder how long it will stay that way
So the abs sensor i bought will take it back and get new oil filter and engine flush

yep that's why you have a replaceable part of the harness that is included when you buy the abs sensor
am not so sure on astra but abs sensor is integrated into hub like the rear abs sensors on vectra
