Just make sure all flanges are tight and there are no leaks and bang some tedex in and take it for a thrash down the motor way before the re test. I use redex about 3 times a year as I mainly do town driving so helps to clean the fuel system.

cheers my man will get to that tomorrow . have also been recommended to change oil and filter and do an engine flush as this will help changed air and fuel filter yesterday air filter was manky so thats got to help also lastly will be check for exhaust leaks trying to juggle this with paintwork also. i should use redex more often also

oil flush no
oil and filter should be done every 6 months or so depending on how expensive the oil is
fuel filter i change every 3 or 4 yrs
air filter should be done once a yr
exhaust leaks from manifold / cat you will smell from cabin on idle, any other leaks might well fail mot but will not effect emissions

i ran my fuel level right down then mixed a good deal of redex in a jerry can with a gallon of fuel and let it idle on my drive for 20 - 30 mins, then thrashed it down the motorway, good time to replace fuel filter will be after you have done this

Changed oil + filter, flushed engine also fixed a minor exhaust leak with gun gum and new bolts was a bit smokey at exhaust before i done this but a lot cleaner now i think its ready for retest

Should be today matt all being well but i've noticed a slight knock when i start car coming from centre of exhaust i think i disturbed the rubbers never checked it properly could be hitting floor or something

I had a 2.5sri a couple of years ago. The flange on the back box was not seated properly causing a leak. I don't know how but it failed the emmissions. It passed first time once the leak was fixed. A year later the centre box collapsed internally causing same problem. Apparently it's a common problem?
