Timing Chain & Oil Jet

Sorry for such a noob question

I've been doing some reading up on the 2.2 engine like in my SRi, and I've found some bits about the oil jet getting blocked causing the timing chain to fail.

From what I have been reading vauxhall recalled some to fit a different/modified oil jet.

How could I find out if my astra was recalled?

If it wasn't would it be possible to get a different/modified oil jet from somewhere and get it fitted?

I'd just like to add, the chain on my astra doesn't seem to be rattling or making any noise, I'm just reading and checking up on things.

Mine is a Astra G 2.2 SRi, 2000 X-reg

What is the current mileage on your Astra?

The life of the chain is 10 years or 100,000 miles. If it's not already been done, yours is 11,000 miles over due.

Getting the chain replace in on my list of things to do soon.

How could I find out if the oil jet got replaced in the recall? if it wasn't replaced could I get it done when I get the chain replaced?

The new chain kits come with various uprated parts. The come with a new tensioner from the Z20NET, larger oil jet, better chain. They have been revised around 30 times since Vauxhall first released them.

As for the re-call, it's probably going to be quite difficult to find out if it's been replaced due to the age of the car unless there is some documentation with it. There was a range of engine numbers supplied by Vauxhall, but over the years, there were engines outside of that rage that were also affected.

my 2000 vectra never had a recall for the timing chain. it had one recall due to an air con pipe breaking and a bracket missing but this was fix as fail realy. when i rebuilt the engine at 117k it had the small oil jet, the chain was still ok, tensioner was abit scored and very worrying was the machining swarf in the oil way behind the oil jet! it all got replaced with a genuine kit.
