Traction Control Problem ! - Different tyre Sizes

Hey guys

Bit stumped !

have 2x 215/40/17's on front different brands
have 2x 225/45/17's on rear continentals

having issues with traction control kicking in for no reason

i.e going 60 - 70 mph on straight or long bend and TC kicks in until i take my foot off gas
i.e full lock on left and have to straighten wheel or take foot off gas otherwise TC kicks in

have noticed it is more sensitive to when there is significant camber on the road

have checked opcom and the ABS sensors all show correct speeds at idle and at speed

Only did the problem really start to appear after i fitted the 17's but the issue on full lock has always been there

Need some more advice before I go out and buy some more tyres for the front

Get all tyres the same size. That will fix it when going in a straight line.
Wheel alignment will fix it when you're on full lock.

i had the very same issue when i had 225/35/18 on the front and 215/35/18 on the rear
any way in the end i had to swap the tires front to rear bigger ones on the rear i think sorted the problem

215/40 vs 225/45 is a massive difference on rolling radius and is why the t/c is coming on it thinks the smaller wheels a spinning

ive had the same trouble when i get a puncture and put the spare on ,its a right pain

problem solved

fitted some 225/45/17 on the front

dont half grip a lot better now

bit of scrubbing going on but more noticeable with others in car ( rarity in itself lol)

got a feeling it scrubbing on the front of the arch liners when aggressively cornering or going over speed humps

don't half grip better than the standard 215/50/16 tyres on sri alloys

really don't want to compromise ride comfort so no way am i dropping it and putting 215/40/17's

will get some pics up soon

mine are all but eaten away fronts are at the center of the arch
and the rears at the back where the bumper bolt is 🙂

I much prefer the 45 profile as well Mike, had it catch the rear arch liner where Carl says his catchers.

mine maybe down to the shitty cheap 40mm lowering springs had to put them on for the last mot mine were broken lol
i do need to buy some proper ones from eibach

I am trying some 215/45/17's on the front and leaving the rears as 225/45/17

gonna see if i get away with traction control playing up

tis only a 1.5% variance

hmm no TC kicking in so far

atleast this gives me a bit of room to drop the car a bit

say 30 mm, already on sri so like another cm or 2

Eibach 30mm should look spot on Mike.

hmm did some research on 30mm and most pics look like it is a standard sri drop

dunno whether to use the 50/30 springs as the recommended weight is up to 962kb and the z22se is lighter meaning less drop

take a look at the pics of my car. 50/30 eibachs with 215/45 tyres. should give you an indication of how low it sits.
the 30mm on the front is too high still for my liking and the rear ideally would look better with a 40mm drop.
